Auvik MCP — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install

Turns every Auvik endpoint into a command your agent can call, and answers cross-client questions the Auvik UI and API leave open. Useful if you run client networks through Auvik.

What Auvik MCP does

The server runs on your own machine over stdio. A companion binary, auvik-cli, wraps the Auvik API, and each MCP tool shells out to it. The installer drops both into your user bin path, and the agent picks up the skill from SKILL.md in that folder.

This is a community build, not affiliated with Auvik Networks. Do not start it in HTTP mode (--transport http) in this version: no password is requested and the port is bound on all interfaces. The tools can also write to Auvik with your credentials. Keep the default stdio transport, and tear down any tunnel you set up for a remote agent.

Claude Desktop users get a .mcpb bundle: open it from Settings > Extensions, no JSON editing. Bundles from older revisions shipped the server without the CLI — run the installer first in that case, or point AUVIK_CLI_PATH at an existing binary. In Claude the plugin installs from the marketplace and works right away.

What it helps with

  • pull device and client lists out of Auvik into chat
  • combine data across several clients in one answer
  • check what is happening on one client's network
  • run an Auvik action without opening the web UI
  • explore an Auvik endpoint through auvik-cli --help

Example prompts for the agent

  • List every client in Auvik with their devices
  • Summarise the network for client Acme over the past week

Questions about Auvik MCP

How do I install Auvik MCP in Claude Code?

Add the marketplace with /plugin marketplace add Servosity/msp-skills, then install the plugin: /plugin install auvik@msp-skills.

What does Auvik MCP do?

It exposes Auvik endpoints to your agent as commands and answers cross-client questions the Auvik UI and API do not cover. It works through the local auvik-cli.

Why should I avoid HTTP mode?

In this build it asks for no password and binds to all network interfaces. The tools can also change Auvik data under your credentials, so stay on stdio.
