gws-sheets-append — Claude Code skill
This skill appends rows to Google Sheets through the gws CLI. Use it when an agent needs to write structured results into a spreadsheet.
npx skills add googleworkspace/cli --skill gws-sheets-append -a claude-codeWhat gws-sheets-append does
gws-sheets-append adds one or more rows to Google Sheets with gws sheets +append. Simple values go through --values; --json-values accepts a JSON array of rows. Use --range to target a specific tab, such as Sheet2!A1.
The command requires the gws binary and the shared gws-shared skill for authentication, global flags, and security rules. The default target range is A1, which selects the first sheet. This is a write operation, so the agent should confirm with the user before running it.
Install it when your coding agent needs to append table data from the command line. Choose gws-sheets as well when the workflow needs other spreadsheet operations.
What it helps with
- append a row to Google Sheets
- insert multiple rows from a JSON array
- write data to a selected sheet tab
- send agent results to a spreadsheet through the CLI
Example prompts for the agent
- Append `Alice,100,true` to the spreadsheet with `gws sheets +append`.
- Use `--json-values` to insert these rows into Google Sheets.
- Append the data to `Sheet2` with the range `Sheet2!A1`.
