What gws-forms does

This skill executes Google Forms operations through the gws command-line utility. The agent can generate empty forms, inspect existing definitions with get, and push modifications with batchUpdate. Reading respondent data happens through the responses and watches endpoints. New forms only accept a title during creation. Questions must be added through a separate update call.

The skill requires the gws binary. Before running commands, configure credentials or execute gws generate-skills to generate shared prerequisites. You can inspect parameter schemas using gws schema. Legacy forms do not support publish settings updates because they lack the required field.

Install this skill if you build surveys and inspect submissions through workspace automation. Manual browser edits do not need this utility.

What it helps with

  • create a new form with a title using gws forms create
  • add form questions and sections using batchUpdate
  • retrieve form metadata and schema definitions with get
  • read respondent answers from the responses endpoint
  • inspect required parameters and flags with gws schema

Example prompts for the agent

  • Create a new feedback form titled Team Survey using gws
  • Inspect the questions on the existing form with gws forms get
  • Show parameter schema for batchUpdate using gws schema

> **PREREQUISITE:** Read `../gws-shared/SKILL.md` for auth, global flags, and security rules. If missing, run `gws generate-skills` to create it.

```bash
gws forms <resource> <method> [flags]
## API Resources
### forms
  - `batchUpdate` — Change the form with a batch of updates.
  - `create` — Create a new form using the title given in the provided form message in the request. *Important:* Only the form.info.title and form.info.document_title fields are copied to the new form. All other fields including the form description, items and settings are disallowed. To create a new form and add items, you must first call forms.create to create an empty form with a title and (optional) document title, and then call forms.update to add the items.
  - `get` — Get a form.
  - `setPublishSettings` — Updates the publish settings of a form. Legacy forms aren't supported because they don't have the `publish_settings` field.
  - `responses` — Operations on the 'responses' resource
  - `watches` — Operations on the 'watches' resource
## Discovering Commands
Before calling any API method, inspect it:
```bash
# Browse resources and methods
gws forms --help

# Inspect a method's required params, types, and defaults
gws schema forms.<resource>.<method>
```
Use `gws schema` output to build your `--params` and `--json` flags.
