XCREENER — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Screens crypto, forex, indices, commodities, and metals via XQL queries directly from your coding assistant.
claude mcp add xcreener-mcp -e XCREENER_API_KEY=<XCREENER_API_KEY> -- npx -y @xcreener/mcpWhat XCREENER does
This stdio bridge links coding clients to the XCREENER market scanning API. It registers four tools: xql_validate to parse queries without touching real data, xql_explain to inspect the plan, xql_run to fetch matching tickers from live feeds, and xql_nl_reference. The assistant reads the reference tool to turn conversational trading prompts into valid XQL queries.
Running any query requires an API key in the XCREENER_API_KEY variable from xcreener.com/account/api-key. Verification happens lazily: the process will start up cleanly even with an empty key, then throw an auth error as soon as you trigger an actual screen.
What it helps with
- filter oversold or overbought assets across multiple asset classes simultaneously
- rank currency strength across forex pairs without manual calculations
- validate and explain XQL syntax before hitting live market feeds
- identify trend direction and momentum for metals or commodities
Example prompts for the agent
- Check all markets to find any instruments oversold right now on the 1h timeframe
- Which currency is performing strongest and weakest across forex pairs this hour?
- Draft a trade plan for NZDUSD with stop loss below the 20-hour low
