Stackcut — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, install
Stackcut reviews SaaS spending, finds cheaper substitutes, and checks a repository for paid services.
claude mcp add --transport http stackcut https://stackcut.io/mcpWhat Stackcut does
Stackcut gives an agent access to an MCP service for subscription research. It can compare plans with actual usage, suggest replacements for a vendor, choose a database and email provider for a stated volume, and outline the steps for leaving a service. A shared plan code can be used for a read-only review.
The package includes a skill, a local scanner at scripts/detect.mjs, and detection rules in detect.json. The scanner inspects the repository you point it to and sends vendor names, feature names, and counts for analysis. Source files and secret values remain local. Passing --latest makes it download public rules from https://stackcut.io/data/detect.json.
No API key is required. The server stores redacted request arguments to improve recommendations, so personal information and secrets should stay out of prompts. The MCP endpoint is https://stackcut.io/mcp.
