mcp · siftingio — Claude Code MCP server: quotes, OHLCV, SEC filings
Wires SiftingIO market data into your assistant: live prices, OHLCV bars, SEC fundamentals, 13F holdings and an economic calendar.
claude mcp add --env SIFTING_API_KEY=<SIFTING_API_KEY> --env SIFTING_BASE_URL=<SIFTING_BASE_URL> --env SIFTING_WS_URL=<SIFTING_WS_URL> --transport stdio siftingio-mcp -- npx -y siftingio-mcpWhat mcp does
The server wraps the @siftingio/sdk TypeScript SDK and exposes 36 tools to the model. You get live snapshots (last_trade, last_quote, last_tvl), crypto and forex bars, stock search and profiles, EDGAR documents, institutional ownership, and a macro calendar. List tools accept cursor/limit; several also take max_items to page through results in one call.
Two transports are available: stdio via npm start, or Streamable HTTP via npm run start:http. The HTTP mode keeps a separate session per client and binds to loopback only, rejecting foreign Origin headers. Set the port with PORT or MCP_HTTP_PORT; it defaults to 3000. To reach it from outside, set MCP_AUTH_TOKEN and every request must carry Authorization: Bearer.
Without SIFTING_API_KEY the server will not start — keys come from sifting.io. Backend addresses can be overridden with SIFTING_BASE_URL and SIFTING_WS_URL. Streaming runs over one persistent WebSocket with a buffer: subscribe and poll (ws_subscribe, ws_poll) for ongoing feeds, or ws_collect for a short one-shot grab. Responses are capped near 60k characters; when a heavy endpoint exceeds that, the server trims the largest array and adds a _truncated note telling you how to narrow the query.
What it helps with
- pull the latest price for a ticker before a calculation
- fetch OHLCV bars for a chosen interval
- find a company's filings in EDGAR and read the sections
- check which funds hold a stock according to 13F
- catch the release time of a macro statistic
Example prompts for the agent
- Show me the last trade on BTCUSD and the hourly bars
- Find NVDA's latest quarterly filing in EDGAR and list the risk factors
- Subscribe to the DEX trades feed and collect a few seconds of data
