Central Bank Rates (AllRatesToday) — Claude Code MCP server
An MCP server that hands your agent official central-bank and tax-authority rates. Useful when you need a rate with its publication date, not a market quote.
claude mcp add --env ALLRATES_API_KEY=<ALLRATES_API_KEY> --env ALLRATES_BASE_URL=<ALLRATES_BASE_URL> --transport stdio central-bank-rates-allratestoday -- npx -y @allratestoday/central-bank-mcpWhat Central Bank Rates (AllRatesToday) does
The server talks to the AllRatesToday API and exposes six tools. An agent can pull the latest published table from any source, a single pair out of it, history, a cross-bank comparison, and the publication calendar. Every figure is an official published rate: it is fixed when the institution publishes it and carries that publication date, which is what reporting and compliance work needs.
Without a key the server still starts and answers. The institution list and the latest table of any source are open. Cross-bank comparison, dated tables and the calendar need a key. A free key covers comparison and cross-computed pairs; dated tables and time series sit behind a paid plan, and a free or trial key gets a 403 on those. The key goes into ALLRATES_API_KEY. Keyless use requires a visible link to AllRatesToday wherever the rates appear.
These are official rates, not market rates. For live mid-market figures there is a separate server, @allratestoday/mcp-server; the two can differ by several percent, so pick by use case. A hosted option exists too: the same tools run at https://allratestoday.com/api/mcp with nothing to install.
What it helps with
- look up the ECB official rate for a given date
- put the HMRC rate into a March invoice
- compare one currency pair across several central banks
- pull a quarter of published rate history
- check which publication date applied over a weekend
Example prompts for the agent
- What is the ECB official USD/EUR rate today?
- List the Bank of Japan rate for each day of Q1

Questions about Central Bank Rates (AllRatesToday)
How do I install Central Bank Rates (AllRatesToday) in Claude Code?

What does Central Bank Rates (AllRatesToday) do?
It gives an agent access to official central-bank and tax-authority rates: the latest table from a source, a single pair, history, a cross-bank comparison and the publication calendar.
How is an official rate different from a market rate?
An official rate is fixed at publication and carries that publication date, which is what tax authorities and auditors ask for. Live mid-market figures come from a separate server, @allratestoday/mcp-server.
