Resource Guru MCP — Claude Code MCP server: Resource Guru API access
Community-built MCP server and skill for the Resource Guru API. Lets your agent read and change scheduling data without leaving the chat.
Open on GitHubWhat Resource Guru MCP does
This is an unofficial project, not connected to Resource Guru Limited. It runs on your own machine and needs no coding: the installer drops two binaries into your user bin path — resourceguru-cli for the command line and resourceguru-mcp for the server itself. Agents reach the tools over MCP, and Claude, Codex and Cowork also pick up the skill from SKILL.md in that directory.
Setup takes a minute. You can paste a single prompt into your agent and it will call install.sh or install.ps1 depending on the shell. Or run the installer yourself: on macOS and Linux bash <(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Servosity/msp-skills/main/skills/resourceguru/install.sh), on Windows iwr -useb https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Servosity/msp-skills/main/skills/resourceguru/install.ps1 | iex. Then authenticate as the README describes and check the result with resourceguru-cli --version. Running the installer again pulls the current release.
One thing to get right: do not start HTTP mode (--transport http), not even on localhost. In this build it asks for no password, binds to all interfaces and has no browser-rebinding guard, so a page you open in a browser can reach it — and the MCP tools can change data using your credentials. Stick to the default stdio transport, and shut down any tunnel you set up for a remote agent. That same gap is why ChatGPT, Microsoft 365 Copilot and the Gemini app are paused: they need remote HTTPS.
What it helps with
- check who is overloaded next week
- move a booking to another project
- create a task in Resource Guru from chat
- compare team availability before scheduling
- export the list of projects and assignments
Example prompts for the agent
- Show me who on the team is overbooked next week
- Move my booking from project A to project B

Questions about Resource Guru MCP
How do I install Resource Guru MCP in Claude Code?
Add the marketplace with /plugin marketplace add Servosity/msp-skills, then install the plugin: /plugin install resourceguru@msp-skills. It works right away, no directory listing needed.
What does Resource Guru MCP do?
It gives your agent access to the Resource Guru API over MCP, so it can read and change resource and booking data. Inside are the resourceguru-cli binary and the resourceguru-mcp server.
Why should I avoid HTTP mode?
In this build it has no password and listens on all network interfaces, so a web page you open can reach it. Use the stdio transport instead.
