REA — Claude MCP server: reverse engineer anything
Wires your agent to tools for inspecting binaries, Electron apps, .NET assemblies and websites. Useful when you want to understand someone else's feature and rebuild it.
claude mcp add rea -- npx -y rea-agentsWhat REA does
REA hands your agent a toolset for looking inside things you have no source for: native binaries, JavaScript and Electron apps, .NET assemblies, websites. Analysis runs locally, and every conclusion comes with the evidence and the limits behind it, so you can see what the answer rests on. The same tools work from the terminal if you prefer driving them yourself.
Setup registers the MCP server with your agent and installs matching workflow instructions, backing up your existing config first. Native analysis needs an existing Hopper, Ghidra or IDA install; setup can optionally install Hopper with your approval. Static JavaScript analysis needs no native engine. On Linux, Ghidra, JADX, firmware launches and static JS analysis need a procps-compatible ps on REA's PATH for process ownership checks.
Worth installing if you reverse engineer other people's apps often and want the agent to do the digging with evidence attached. For a one-off look at a single file, the terminal commands alone are enough.
What it helps with
- understand a feature in a closed-source app
- map modules and Electron boundaries in a JS app
- inspect a native binary through Hopper, Ghidra or IDA
- get evidence behind each analysis conclusion
- rebuild a feature you liked in your own project
Example prompts for the agent
- Understand how search works in the Notes app, show me the evidence, and build a similar feature for my project.
- Analyze this Electron app directory and show me its modules and boundaries.
- Inspect this native binary and explain what this function does.

How do I install REA in Claude?
Run claude mcp add rea -- npx -y rea-agents and restart your agent. Or run npx rea-agents setup and pick Claude — setup writes the server entry and the workflow instructions for you.
What does REA do?
It gives your agent tools to inspect native binaries, JavaScript and Electron apps, .NET assemblies and websites. Analysis stays local, and results carry their evidence and limitations.
What do I need for native analysis?
An existing Hopper, Ghidra or IDA installation. Setup can install Hopper if you approve it. Static JavaScript analysis works without a native analysis engine.
