Google Workspace · mindstone — Claude Code MCP server: install and setup
Connects AI agents to Gmail, Drive, Docs, and Calendar. Gives coding assistants access to emails, files, and scheduling via 124 tools.
claude mcp add --env GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID=<GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID> --env GOOGLE_CLIENT_SECRET=<GOOGLE_CLIENT_SECRET> --env ACCOUNTS_PATH=<ACCOUNTS_PATH> --env CREDENTIALS_PATH=<CREDENTIALS_PATH> --env GOOGLE_WORKSPACE_REQUEST_TIMEOUT_MS=<GOOGLE_WORKSPACE_REQUEST_TIMEOUT_MS> --transport stdio google-workspace -- npx -y @mindstone/mcp-server-google-workspaceWhat Google Workspace does
This connector equips AI agents with 124 tools spanning Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Tasks, and Meet. It lets models search email threads, send messages, inspect calendar openings, or manipulate files directly in Google storage.
Authentication differs from typical standalone servers. The connector runs no local OAuth callback server and creates no sign-in links on its own. Instead, the host environment carries out the OAuth process and drops credential files into a dedicated path alongside an accounts.json index. When tokens are missing, calls stop and emit an auth_required status.
Running this tool requires Node.js 20 or newer along with valid GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID and GOOGLE_CLIENT_SECRET values. You can also configure request timeouts via GOOGLE_WORKSPACE_REQUEST_TIMEOUT_MS.
What it helps with
- search email threads in Gmail and draft replies
- inspect calendar availability and schedule appointments
- search, retrieve, and organize files in Google Drive
- create and edit content inside Google Docs
Example prompts for the agent
- Find the email from Sarah about yesterday's sprint planning and reply that I am reviewing it.
- List my open calendar slots for tomorrow afternoon.
- Look up the quarterly slide deck on Google Drive and summarize the recent edits.
