TalentLMS — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Connects your TalentLMS instance to AI agents. It streamlines user lookups, course assignments, group organizing, and assessment monitoring.
claude mcp add --env TALENTLMS_API_KEY=<TALENTLMS_API_KEY> --env TALENTLMS_DOMAIN=<TALENTLMS_DOMAIN> --env TALENTLMS_REQUEST_TIMEOUT=<TALENTLMS_REQUEST_TIMEOUT> --transport stdio talentlms -- npx -y @mindstone/mcp-server-talentlmsWhat TalentLMS does
The server provides 28 operational tools connecting to the TalentLMS cloud API. It enables assistants to inspect profiles, enroll team members, configure learning groups, and fetch SSO launch links. List queries support pagination, returning 20 records normally or up to 1000 items per request when adjusting page_size.
User-generated copy like bios, course overviews, and quiz submissions is automatically enclosed in <untrusted-content> blocks. This stops prompt injections while leaving raw IDs available for tool pipelines. Running the package requires Node.js 20 or newer alongside valid TALENTLMS_API_KEY and TALENTLMS_DOMAIN credentials.
What it helps with
- enroll students into assigned training courses
- retrieve quiz answers and survey submissions
- generate direct SSO links for course access
- track completion timelines and user certifications
Example prompts for the agent
- List all active users enrolled in course 42
- Show the gamification leaderboard sorted by points
- Enrol [email protected] into the onboarding course
