Gamma — Claude Code MCP server: decks and exports
Turns a prompt into a Gamma deck, document or webpage and hands back a link or a PPTX/PDF file inside your host.
claude mcp add --env GAMMA_API_KEY=<GAMMA_API_KEY> --env GAMMA_EXPORT_POLL_INTERVAL_MS=<GAMMA_EXPORT_POLL_INTERVAL_MS> --env GAMMA_EXPORT_POLL_MAX_ATTEMPTS=<GAMMA_EXPORT_POLL_MAX_ATTEMPTS> --env GAMMA_REQUEST_TIMEOUT_MS=<GAMMA_REQUEST_TIMEOUT_MS> --transport stdio gamma -- npx -y @mindstone/mcp-server-gammaWhat Gamma does
Six tools ship with the server. gamma_list_themes and gamma_list_folders locate a theme or folder in the workspace, gamma_generate starts a presentation, document, webpage or social post, gamma_create_from_template clones an existing Gamma document and edits it, and gamma_get_status reports on generation and export progress. The API key goes in through configure_gamma_api_key or the GAMMA_API_KEY variable.
Generation runs asynchronously, so the host polls for status. GAMMA_EXPORT_POLL_INTERVAL_MS and GAMMA_EXPORT_POLL_MAX_ATTEMPTS control how often and how many times, while GAMMA_REQUEST_TIMEOUT_MS caps the outbound HTTP call to both Gamma and the host bridge. Seeing TIMEOUT on slow submits means that cap is too low for your network.
Node.js 20+ and npm are required. Text coming back from Gamma — theme and folder names, keyword arrays, error strings, URLs — arrives wrapped in <untrusted-content> so the model reads it as data instead of instructions. Nothing works until a valid Gamma API key is in place.
What it helps with
- turn a written brief into a finished Gamma deck
- export a deck as PPTX or PDF
- look up the ID of a custom corporate theme
- clone an existing Gamma document and rewrite it
- wait out an async export and collect the file
Example prompts for the agent
- List the Gamma themes and find our custom one
- Clone the document in that folder and rewrite it for the new report

Questions about Gamma
How do I install Gamma in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add mcp-server-gamma -e GAMMA_API_KEY=<GAMMA_API_KEY> -- npx -y @mindstone/mcp-server-gamma. To also set polling and timeout values, use `claude mcp add --env GAMMA_API_KEY=<GAMMA_API_KEY> --env GAMMA_EXPORT_POLL_INTERVAL_MS=<GAMMA_EXPORT_POLL_INTERVAL_MS> --env GAMMA_EXPORT_POLL_MAX_ATTEMPTS=<GAMMA_EXPORT_POLL_MAX_ATTEMPTS> --env GAMMA_REQUEST_TIMEOUT_MS=<GAMMA_REQUEST_TIMEOUT_MS> --transport stdio gamma -- npx -y @mindstone/mcp-server-gamma`.
What does the Gamma MCP server do?
It creates Gamma presentations, documents, webpages and social posts, lists workspace themes and folders, clones existing documents, and tracks generation and export status.
What does the server need to run?
Node.js 20+, npm, and a Gamma API key in GAMMA_API_KEY. Raise GAMMA_REQUEST_TIMEOUT_MS if you keep hitting TIMEOUT errors.
