kenotex-mcp — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
Connect a coding agent to Kenotex on your Mac to manage todos, calendar events, habit check-ins, and reminders.
claude mcp add --env KENOTEX_TOKEN=<KENOTEX_TOKEN> --env KENOTEX_HOST=<KENOTEX_HOST> --transport stdio kenotex-mcp -- npx -y kenotex-mcpWhat kenotex-mcp does
kenotex-mcp gives an agent MCP tools for working with items in the Kenotex app. It can create and update todos, schedule events, record habit check-ins, and manage reminders. The app keeps its data in a local SQLite database and syncs with iPhone through iCloud.
You need Kenotex running on a Mac with macOS 26 or later, plus Node.js 20+ or Bun. The server communicates with the app’s local HTTP interface. Todo creation requires a categoryId, so the agent must find a suitable category with list_categories or create one before calling create_todo. That extra step matters when asking the agent to add a task.
Add the server to Claude Code with the command below. KENOTEX_TOKEN supplies access credentials; an alternate server address can be set with KENOTEX_HOST. Habit tools depend on the app release, and interval cadence requires a release advertising local API v3.
What it helps with
- create a categorized todo with recurrence
- schedule an event in the calendar
- record a daily or interval habit check-in
- add a reminder to a plan
Example prompts for the agent
- Create a todo called “Check the build,” choose a suitable category, and repeat it on Mondays.
- Schedule a calendar event for tomorrow: release preparation.
- Mark today’s “Stretching” habit as complete.
