cnb — Claude Code MCP server: exchange rates and setup
cnb gives coding agents access to official Czech National Bank exchange rates for CZK and other currencies. Use it to check past rates or convert an amount for an accounting entry.
claude mcp add --transport http cnb https://cnb.cz-agents.dev/mcpWhat cnb does
cnb connects an AI agent to daily and historical exchange-rate data published by the Czech National Bank (ČNB). The rates cover CZK against EUR, USD and other currencies. Historical lookups accept a valid ISO date, which helps when checking the rate associated with an earlier invoice.
The server exposes three tools. get_rates retrieves the complete daily rate sheet, while get_rate returns a single currency's rate against CZK. Use convert to calculate an amount between ISO 4217 currencies using ČNB rates. A USD-to-EUR conversion belongs in convert, not get_rate.
You can connect through the hosted MCP endpoint or run the package locally with npx and @czagents/cnb. The central bank's rate sheet is free to access, but the hosted endpoint applies per-IP request limits. Running the project from source requires Node.js and the listed build commands; the local setup avoids the hosted endpoint's IP-based limit.
What it helps with
- Retrieve the latest daily ČNB exchange-rate sheet
- Look up the EUR-to-CZK rate for a past date
- Convert a USD amount into CZK using official rates
- Check a currency rate for an accounting record
Example prompts for the agent
- Find the official ČNB EUR-to-CZK rate for
2024-01-15. - Convert 100 USD to CZK using ČNB rates for
2024-01-15. - Retrieve the complete daily ČNB rate sheet for

Questions about cnb
How do I install cnb in Claude Code?
For the hosted MCP endpoint, run claude mcp add --transport http cnb https://cnb.cz-agents.dev/mcp. To use the package locally, run claude mcp add cnb -- npx -y @czagents/cnb. Choose one setup method.
What does the cnb MCP server do?
It lets an agent query daily and historical exchange rates from the Czech National Bank. get_rates returns the full daily sheet, get_rate retrieves one currency's CZK rate, and convert calculates a currency conversion.
Which cnb tool converts USD to EUR?
Use convert with the amount, source currency and target currency, plus a historical date when needed. get_rate retrieves a currency's rate against CZK rather than converting between two foreign currencies.
