eu-registry — Claude Code MCP server: EU company lookups
Checks companies across 16 EU and EEA countries through national registries, GLEIF/LEI and VIES, straight from your AI assistant.
claude mcp add --transport http eu-registry https://eu-registry.cz-agents.dev/mcpWhat eu-registry does
The server returns entity status, registration details and addresses, plus parent-company resolution and VAT validation for part of the coverage. Nine countries come with full national data, among them GB, PL, FR, NO, DK, FI, EE and SE. Lithuania runs on the Registrų centras JAR open dataset: name, code and registration date, with the official legal-status classifier exposed as status_label. Lithuanian addresses and officers are not published, so the address field stays empty.
DE, NL, IT, AT, ES and BE get a baseline: name, address, status, VAT validity and GLEIF/LEI parent resolution. No director or board data there, because those national registries sit behind paywalls. VIES for Spain confirms only whether a number is valid, nothing more.
Three tools cover the work. search_company matches a full or partial name, get_company pulls one entity by its national ID, and lookup_company_by_vat validates an EU VAT number. The UK adapter needs a free CH_API_KEY; skip it and Companies House returns nothing. Denmark falls back to public data when credentials are absent, while Sweden needs the Bolagsverket OAuth pair for exact-number lookups. Estonia and Lithuania read from a local SQLite store that you populate with a separate ingest command.
What it helps with
- screen a counterparty in an EU registry before signing
- find a company by partial name across 16 countries
- confirm an EU VAT number through VIES
- trace a parent company by LEI
- cross-check registration data and legal status
Example prompts for the agent
- Search the GB registry for Tesco and show the first 5 hits
- Validate VAT number

Questions about eu-registry
How do I install eu-registry in Claude Code?
For the hosted endpoint run claude mcp add --transport http eu-registry https://eu-registry.cz-agents.dev/mcp. For a local npx setup run claude mcp add eu-registry -- npx -y @czagents/eu-registry.
What does eu-registry do?
It looks up and verifies companies in 16 EU and EEA registries, validates VAT numbers via VIES, and resolves parent companies through GLEIF/LEI.
Do I need API keys to use it?
Most countries need none. The UK adapter returns empty results without CH_API_KEY, and exact Swedish lookups require the Bolagsverket OAuth credentials.
