recipe-backup-sheet-as-csv — Claude skill: export Google Sheets to CSV
This skill exports a Google Sheets spreadsheet as a CSV file for local backup or processing. Useful when you need the data on your own disk.
npx skills add googleworkspace/cli --skill recipe-backup-sheet-as-csv -a claude-codeWhat recipe-backup-sheet-as-csv does
The skill walks through three ways to pull data out of a sheet using the gws CLI. First it fetches spreadsheet details with gws sheets spreadsheets get. Then it exports the file as CSV via gws drive files export with mimeType: text/csv. The third option reads values directly: gws sheets +read with --spreadsheet, --range and --format csv.
Two other skills must be loaded first — gws-sheets and gws-drive. The gws binary has to be on your system. Without it none of the commands run, so check that before you start.
Worth installing if you back up sheets on a schedule or feed the data into scripts. For a one-off download, just grab the CSV from the Google Sheets UI.
