gws-docs-write — Claude Code skill: write to Docs
Appends plain text to the end of a Google Docs document through gws. Use it when an agent needs to write a result into a specific document.
npx skills add googleworkspace/cli --skill gws-docs-write -a claude-codeWhat gws-docs-write does
This skill appends text to the end of a Google Docs document body. The agent passes a document ID and the text to insert, then runs gws docs +write --document --text . The inserted content is plain text.
The setup requires the gws binary and the shared gws-shared skill for authentication, global flags, and security rules. This command changes a document, so the agent must ask for confirmation before running it. Rich formatting requires the raw batchUpdate API.
Install it when an agent needs to add generated content to Google Docs. Choose another approach for formatted output.
What it helps with
- append text to the end of a Google Docs file
- write an agent result into a specific document
- insert plain text using a document ID
- confirm a document change before execution
Example prompts for the agent
- Append this text to the end of document `DOC_ID`.
- Run `gws docs +write --document DOC_ID --text 'Hello, world!'` after I confirm.
- Write the final result to Google Docs as plain text.
