Zendesk — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
Connect Zendesk Support to an agent to search tickets, inspect details, and make changes. Useful for triaging requests and preparing ticket follow-ups.
claude mcp add --env ZENDESK_CONFIG_PATH=<ZENDESK_CONFIG_PATH> --env ZENDESK_CLIENT_ID=<ZENDESK_CLIENT_ID> --env ZENDESK_CLIENT_SECRET=<ZENDESK_CLIENT_SECRET> --transport stdio zendesk -- npx -y @mindstone/mcp-server-zendeskWhat Zendesk does
The server gives an agent tools to search and export tickets, fetch individual records, create tickets, and change fields or comments. It can also search for users and connect a Zendesk account. Ticket search uses Zendesk query syntax; exports use cursor-based pagination and are not subject to the search tool’s 1000-result cap.
It runs over stdio with npx -y @mindstone/mcp-server-zendesk. Node.js 20+ and npm are required. For a standalone setup, set ZENDESK_CONFIG_PATH and create an accounts.json file with the Zendesk subdomain, email address, and API token; OAuth is supported too. Customer-written ticket text is treated as external content, not as directions for the agent, which matters when processing requests.
What it helps with
- find open, high-priority tickets
- fetch a ticket by its ID
- create a ticket or change its status
- add a comment to a ticket
- export tickets with cursor-based pagination
Example prompts for the agent
- Find open, high-priority Zendesk tickets and show the details of the first one.
- Fetch ticket
12345and summarize its latest details. - Create a Zendesk ticket and add this comment.
