sentinel — MCP server for Claude Code: site monitoring
A hosted MCP server for uptime, SSL, DNS and domain-expiry monitoring. Ask your assistant about client sites instead of opening the dashboard.
claude mcp add --transport http sentinel https://sentinel.rootstuff.io/mcp/sentinel-oauthWhat sentinel does
Sentinel is a monitoring service that plugs into an AI assistant as a remote MCP server. Nothing runs on your machine: the transport is Streamable HTTP and the endpoint is https://sentinel.rootstuff.io/mcp/sentinel. Clients with a browser sign-in flow use the OAuth 2.1 endpoint at https://sentinel.rootstuff.io/mcp/sentinel-oauth, which supports dynamic client registration.
There are 26 tools. The read side answers questions like what is down right now, and returns DNS record history, response-time trends, certificates nearing expiry, incidents, status pages, and a team roster with roles and 2FA state. The write side manages monitors and incidents: create, update, delete, pause, force a re-check, and organise monitors into groups.
Permissions live on the token. A write tool needs the matching create, update or delete permission, and a refusal names the one that is missing. Write tools also need a verified email on the account and share an hourly change budget across the team. check-url-tool, which checks a URL from every region, is paid-plan only. Everything is scoped to the authenticated user's current team, and deletes cannot be undone.
What it helps with
- find which client SSL certificates expire this month
- review uptime across all sites for June
- add monitoring for a new domain from chat
- work an incident and resolve it without the dashboard
- audit whether the whole team has two-factor auth on
Example prompts for the agent
- Create a monitor for
https://client-site.comand check it now. - Check if
example.comis up from every region.
