OBTO — Claude Code MCP server: ship apps from chat
Describe an app in plain language and the agent writes the code, sets up the database and publishes it to a live URL. A workspace appears at first sign-in.
claude mcp add --transport http obto https://app.obto.co/ms/mcpWhat OBTO does
OBTO is a deployment platform where an AI agent handles the whole build: it writes the code, provisions the database and puts the result online at an address like yourapp.obto.co. No editor, no terminal. It connects as an MCP server to Claude, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI and other MCP-capable clients.
There is a single endpoint for everyone — https://app.obto.co/ms/mcp. No personal URL, no API key to copy: signing in with Google over OAuth identifies you and your workspace. The repo ships a SKILL.md file that teaches the model OBTO's conventions — how code lives as database artifacts, the order deployments must follow, which collection types exist. Skip that file and the agent produces code that won't deploy. On Claude and Codex you can take the plugin instead: it wires up the MCP connection and nine task skills covering the build loop, deploys and large files, media upload, memory, MCP extension, the Postgres database, reviewer feedback, troubleshooting and platform boundaries.
Sign-up comes first, through Google, and the workspace is created for you. In Claude one command does the job: claude mcp add --transport http obto https://app.obto.co/ms/mcp. Codex takes codex mcp add obto --url https://app.obto.co/ms/mcp. Cursor and GitHub Copilot are configured with a JSON block in settings. Any harness that reads instruction files can just drop SKILL.md into the project root or a skills directory.
What it helps with
- publish a landing page with a menu, gallery and contact form
- get a database behind an app without setting up hosting by hand
- receive a live URL right after describing the task to an agent
- hook deployment into Claude or Codex over MCP
- teach the model platform conventions with a skill file
Example prompts for the agent
- Set up a contact form: server script, page and styles, plus a database for submissions
- Upload the gallery images and wire them into the page

Questions about OBTO
How do I install OBTO in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http obto https://app.obto.co/ms/mcp. Or install the plugin from the marketplace: /plugin marketplace add obto-inc/platform first, then /plugin install obto@obto.
What does OBTO do?
It lets an AI agent build and deploy a full application — code, database and a live URL — inside the same conversation.
Do I need an API key?
No. Every client points at the same address, https://app.obto.co/ms/mcp, and the Google OAuth sign-in identifies you and your workspace.
