Scento Perfume API — Claude Code MCP server: fragrance data
Lets your assistant look up notes, families and similar scents across 1,400+ perfumes. No key, no account, read-only.
claude mcp add --transport http perfume-api https://www.scento.com/mcpWhat Scento Perfume API (MCP server) does
The server answers fragrance questions inside your chat: which notes sit in a perfume, what family it belongs to, how two scents differ in structure. Search works by name, house, note or a mood word, and every answer links back to a page on scento.com. Twelve tools ship with it, from a single-perfume portrait to a wardrobe built from three to five bottles.
Connection is remote over streamable HTTP at https://www.scento.com/mcp, with no authentication. Clients that only launch local servers go through the stdio bridge: npx -y scento-perfume-api on Node 18+ or uvx scento-perfume-api on Python 3.9+. Pick the bridge and you need that runtime installed — without it the server never starts.
Tools take a lang parameter for German, French, Spanish, Italian, Romanian, Greek, Hungarian, Czech or Polish, which returns scento.com links in that language. There is no Russian among them, so links come back in one of the listed languages while answers follow your prompt. The same data is also exposed as a plain REST API.
What it helps with
- look up the notes and family of a specific perfume
- compare two to four scents by pyramid and character
- find similar perfumes that share materials
- pick a fragrance for a season or occasion
- explain a term like sillage or EDP versus EDT
Example prompts for the agent
- What notes are in this perfume and which family is it?
- Find perfumes that contain ambroxan and vanilla
- Build a wardrobe of three scents for different moments
