India API — MCP server for Claude Code: Indian data and AI
Gives your agent 44 APIs for Indian data: pincodes, IFSC, GSTIN, holidays, GST invoice PDFs, OCR and translation. No key, no sign-up.
claude mcp add --transport http india-api https://api.dharun.dev/mcpWhat India API does
Every endpoint answers with the same JSON shape, so parsing stays simple. The server covers pincodes and post offices, banks by IFSC, RTO codes, bank and stock market holidays, working days and T+1 settlement dates, HSN and SAC codes, railway stations and airports, phone number checks, constituencies, panchang, sunrise and sunset, satellite passes.
There is practical stuff too: QR codes and UPI payment links, barcode reading from a photo, a GST tax invoice PDF built from JSON, OCR for Indian languages, translation between English and 22 Indian languages, transliteration across nine scripts, embeddings and a reranker for semantic search. Network checks are included as well — DNS, whois, TLS, IPv6, traceroute and an HTTP probe from India.
No API key, open CORS. In Claude Code it installs with a single command over HTTP transport. One catch: much of the data is India-specific, so on a project outside the country a good share of the endpoints will sit unused.
What it helps with
- look up a pincode and nearby post offices
- pull bank branch details from an IFSC code
- generate a GST invoice PDF from order data
- translate text from English into an Indian language
- read text off a photo in an Indian script
Example prompts for the agent
- Find the post offices for pincode 637001
- Make a UPI payment QR code for 250 rupees
- Build a GST invoice PDF from this order data
