rpgmaker-mv-mcp — Claude Code MCP server: edit RPG Maker MV projects
Lets your assistant read and change an RPG Maker MV game: database, maps, events. Useful when a batch of edits would take hours in the editor.
claude mcp add rpgmaker-mv-mcp -- npx -y @xerolo44/rpgmaker-mv-mcpWhat rpgmaker-mv-mcp does
It speaks Model Context Protocol and plugs into Claude, Claude Desktop, Cursor and other MCP clients. The tool set covers all 12 database types — actors, classes, skills, items, weapons, armors, enemies, troops, states, animations, tilesets and common events — through one CRUD interface. Skill builders go further: give a name and a damage formula, get an editor-valid entry.
Maps work the same way. You can create a map, add or edit events, push a batch of commands, and build dialogue that splits into message boxes on its own. render_map_image produces a PNG with the actual tileset art, event sprites and an optional grid, so the model checks its own work instead of guessing. connect_maps wires transfer doors between two maps in both directions, and list_map_connections reports one-way doors and unreachable maps. Bulk balancing runs through bulk_update_records with a dry-run diff first; simulate_battle tests troops against the party using the real formulas.
Node.js 18+ is required. Each file gets a snapshot in .mcp-backups/ before its first change of the session, restore_backup undoes anything, and validate_project flags broken references. Pass --project with the game folder at launch, or call set_project later.
What it helps with
- generate a damage skill from a formula
- track down every event that mentions a given NPC
- paint water and walls across a map in one pass
- rescale weapon attack with a diff before applying
- export all game text to CSV and load it back
Example prompts for the agent
- Create a Fireball skill: magic damage,
a.mat * 4 - b.mdf * 2, 12 MP, fire element. - Find every event on every map that mentions the mayor.
- Link the castle map and the dungeon with two-way transfers.
