iDos Games SDK — local MCP server for game modules and SDK skills
An MCP server that feeds a coding agent the iDos Games module catalog, a starter project and SDK how-tos. No sign-in, works offline.
claude mcp add sdk -- npx -y @idosgames/mcpWhat iDos Games SDK does
The server exposes the Module & Skills Registry to your agent. It lists ready game modules such as a store, quests, inventory, leaderboards or multiplayer, hands over a module's full source with its install notes, and returns the scaffold every new project starts from. Package versions for @idosgames/* come from the manifest tool, and separate skills cover coding against @idosgames/core and combining modules. A search tool finds a module by the feature you describe. Two validators run the studio's own checks over a video asset or video package.
Every tool is read-only and answers with content. Writing files is the agent's job, so the server never touches your project. The registry ships inside the npm package, which keeps it usable with no network.
There is no authentication, and the transport is stdio. Your client must be able to spawn a local process through npx; a chat that only speaks HTTP to remote tools won't run it. Live game settings, asset generation and build uploads belong to the separate hosted iDos Games server, which does use OAuth.
What it helps with
- pick a ready module for a game mechanic and read its source
- start a new game project from the base scaffold
- pin the right
@idosgames/*package versions - learn how to build on
@idosgames/coreand the module contract - check a video-studio asset or video before shipping it
Example prompts for the agent
- Find a store module and walk me through installing it
- Scaffold a new project from the host template and pull the current manifest
- Validate the package in
video.jsonwithvalidate_video

Questions about iDos Games SDK
How do I install iDos Games SDK in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add sdk -- npx -y @idosgames/mcp. That registers the server, and it starts when your agent first calls it.
What does iDos Games SDK do?
It gives an agent the game module catalog, the starter scaffold and SDK skills. Tools only read and return data, while the agent writes files into the project itself.
Do I need an iDos Games account?
No. The server is public and read-only, and the registry is bundled, so it runs offline. OAuth applies to the hosted iDos Games server that handles live game config, asset generation and builds.
