NudgeHost — Claude Code MCP server: upload files, get links
A remote MCP server that publishes text and files and hands back a public link. Useful when an agent has to send its output somewhere.
claude mcp add --transport http nudgehost https://www.nudgehost.com/api/mcpWhat NudgeHost does
NudgeHost is a file-hosting service with a remote MCP server. It lives at https://www.nudgehost.com/api/mcp, so there is nothing to install locally — your client just points at that URL. Four tools come with it. share_text turns text into a file and returns the link in one call, and the filename extension decides how the page looks: .html renders as a web page, .csv and .json open in a viewer, .md appears as formatted text with the source and a copy button. create_upload_url returns an address to push bytes to, valid for 300 seconds, complete_upload closes the upload out, and list_links walks the account's links with the newest first.
Because the tools act on an account, every request carries an API key. Sign up for a free account, create a key in the dashboard panel — it is shown once — and put it in the NUDGEHOST_API_KEY environment variable, then restart the client. The free plan is enough, and it holds 2 keys at a time.
Keep www in the URL. The apex nudgehost.com redirects to www, and the Authorization header is dropped on that hop, so a valid key comes back 401. The key shares one request budget with the REST API: 20 requests per 60 seconds on Free, 60 on Pro, 150 on Studio. Text passed to share_text is capped at 2MB in UTF-8.
What it helps with
- hand a colleague one link to an agent's output
- publish a text report as a page in the browser
- upload a file the server does not hold and get an address for the bytes
- turn a ZIP with an index file into a hosted site
- browse the account's links and page through them
Example prompts for the agent
- Publish this report as a markdown file and give me the link
- Upload
build.zipand tell me where it lives now - Show the last 10 links on my account

Questions about NudgeHost
How do I install NudgeHost in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http nudgehost https://www.nudgehost.com/api/mcp, then set the NUDGEHOST_API_KEY environment variable and restart the client.
What does NudgeHost do?
It publishes text and files and returns a public link. The tools share_text, create_upload_url, complete_upload and list_links work against your account.
Why does a valid key return 401?
The request probably went to nudgehost.com without www. The apex redirects to www, and the Authorization header is dropped on that hop.
