What Mailows does

Mailows is a remote MCP server reachable at https://mcp.mailows.com/mcp. Your agent gets a dedicated address on your domain instead of borrowing a human mailbox, and you choose which inboxes it can reach. Grants are revoked one agent at a time.

The first call opens a browser for OAuth, using authorization code with PKCE. Tokens live in the MCP client's credential store rather than in a project file. The service is operated by DW Technology LLC.

Because the server is hosted, mail passes through someone else's infrastructure. Teams with rules about where correspondence is stored should read the terms before wiring it in.

What it helps with

  • give an agent its own address instead of a shared team mailbox
  • read incoming mail and reply from inside a Claude session
  • revoke one agent's access without touching the others
  • limit which inboxes an agent can see

Example prompts for the agent

  • Show unread mail in the agent inbox
  • Reply to the latest message from the client
  • List the inboxes you can access

Questions about Mailows

How do I install Mailows in Claude Code?

Run claude mcp add --transport http mailows https://mcp.mailows.com/mcp. The first request opens a browser for OAuth authorization.

What does Mailows do?

It gives an agent a real inbox on your domain and lets it read and send mail over MCP. Access is limited to the inboxes you pick and can be revoked per agent.

Where are the access tokens kept?

In the MCP client's credential store. Authorization uses the code flow with PKCE.
