Continente MCP — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Unofficial Continente.pt shopping MCP server. Lets your assistant search items, review past orders, and manage grocery carts directly from chat.
claude mcp add --env CONTINENTE_EMAIL=<CONTINENTE_EMAIL> --env CONTINENTE_PASSWORD=<CONTINENTE_PASSWORD> --env CONTINENTE_CREDENTIALS_FILE=<CONTINENTE_CREDENTIALS_FILE> --transport stdio continente-mcp -- npx -y continentept-mcpWhat Continente MCP does
This server connects your assistant to the Portuguese supermarket Continente.pt over stdio. It allows querying the store catalog, checking unit prices for weighted goods, retrieving favorite lists, and altering cart contents. Browsing works immediately, though managing your basket requires valid store credentials.
Under the hood, the integration drives a headless Chromium browser, which downloads roughly 150 MB of runtime files during initial setup. Every cart mutation is verified by reading the basket state back immediately. When a network timeout causes an ambiguous outcome, the tool reports an unknown state and stops to prevent double additions.
Completing purchases through the assistant is impossible. Checkout steps and card payments remain strictly isolated on the official store website.
What it helps with
- query Continente.pt catalog items with exact bulk and unit rates
- build grocery baskets from meal plans or plain notes
- inspect frequently ordered items and past purchase history
- adjust or clear cart quantities before heading to checkout
Example prompts for the agent
- Check my frequently bought products on Continente and plan a basket for two
- Show my current Continente basket lines and calculate the total cost
