SeleniumBase MCP — Claude Code MCP server: browser and scraping
An MCP server that hands your agent SeleniumBase browser control: tests, scraping and bot-detection bypass.
claude mcp add seleniumbase -- uvx seleniumbaseWhat SeleniumBase MCP does
The server exposes SeleniumBase as a tool for an AI agent. Through CDP Mode the agent opens pages, clicks, takes screenshots and pulls data — all in a stealth setup that gets past bot detection and CAPTCHAs. Useful when you want to run an E2E test or grab page content without leaving the chat.
It runs via uvx seleniumbase, so uv has to be installed. You do not need to install the Python package separately: uvx fetches it. The server speaks stdio and plugs into Claude, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot and other clients with a single command.
Stealth is not a guarantee. Sites with aggressive protection can still block requests, and CDP Mode needs a recent Chrome. If you are automating against production, that is a reason to check whether scraping fits the site's rules.
What it helps with
- run an E2E test on a page straight from the agent chat
- scrape a site that blocks ordinary requests
- capture a page screenshot for a report
- get past a CAPTCHA during automated login
- check layout in a real browser without launching it by hand
Example prompts for the agent
- Open seleniumbase.io and screenshot the homepage
- Run the login test on our staging site with SeleniumBase
- Scrape the headlines from this page
