Brreg — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Connects Norway's company register Enhetsregisteret to your AI agent. Search businesses by number or name, inspect financials, and filter by location.
claude mcp add --transport http brreg https://brreg.publifye.com/mcpWhat Brreg does
This hosted server provides 9 read-only tools querying official data from Brønnøysundregistrene. Looking up an organisation number performs a strict checksum verification without guesswork. When resolving company names, it strips legal suffixes like AS, normalises Norwegian letters æ, ø, and å, and returns ranked candidates rather than picking one arbitrarily. Register files refresh every week.
Search filters support NACE industry codes, geographic municipalities, and RE2 regular expressions across emails or activity fields. Radius searches run up to 10 km alone or 50 km alongside another filter. Because Kartverket address points exclude post boxes and c/o addresses, entities with those details never appear in distance queries.
The service operates over HTTPS using streamable HTTP transport. You do not need to generate or rotate API keys. Authentication uses OAuth 2.1 via your browser on first launch with a Publifye account.
What it helps with
- Retrieve Norwegian company details by organisation number with checksum validation
- Match ambiguous enterprise names while handling Norwegian characters æ, ø, and å
- Filter local businesses within a specific radius by NACE industry classification
- Pull filed accounting figures directly from Regnskapsregisteret
