Backup Radar MCP — Claude Code MCP server: install guide
This MCP server exposes Backup Radar v2 and v3 endpoints and keeps a local view of backups that are not being monitored.
Open on GitHubWhat Backup Radar MCP does
Backup Radar MCP gives an agent access to every Backup Radar v2 and v3 endpoint. Its local store helps surface backups that have no one watching them. The package includes backup-radar-cli and backup-radar-mcp; Claude Code finds the skill through SKILL.md.
You can install it with a script for macOS, Linux, WSL, Bash, or Windows PowerShell. Authentication is required before use, and the CLI can be checked with backup-radar-cli --version. Claude Code also supports installing the plugin from its marketplace.
Use the stdio transport. The HTTP mode in this build checks a token but has no request-size or execution-time limits, so it should not be used, including on localhost.
What it helps with
- find backups with no active monitoring
- inspect Backup Radar v2 and v3 data
- review the state of backup coverage
- surface stale backups and restore records
Example prompts for the agent
- Check Backup Radar for backups that are not being monitored.
- Compare backup status across the Backup Radar v2 and v3 endpoints.
- Run
backup-radar-cli --helpand show the available operations.
