Sub ID— what it means in affiliate marketing
Extra parameters in an affiliate link that let the affiliate label and later split their own traffic.
Sub IDs are the only reporting dimension the affiliate controls, so they carry whatever the tracker needs: creative, placement, geo, account. Advertisers read them too, which is how a bad placement gets named.
