reddit-search — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
This skill investigates public Reddit posts, comments, communities, and requested profiles. Use it when product research needs evidence from discussions.
npx skills add PostPlusAI/postplus-skills --skill reddit-search -a claude-codeWhat reddit-search does
reddit-search gives an agent a bounded way to research public Reddit. It can discover posts and communities from keywords or URLs, inspect comments in selected threads, collect subreddit content, and review activity from a specifically named public profile. Results are kept as JSON under .postplus/, with raw records and source links available for review.
The skill uses separate routes for discovery, thread comments, subreddit posts, and public-user activity: reddit-search, reddit-post-comments, reddit-subreddit-posts, and reddit-user-activity. It starts with a narrow pass, checks relevance, and limits follow-up work. Login, posting, private-data enrichment, deleted-content recovery, media downloads, and automated sentiment analysis are outside its scope. A run stops when PostPlus credits are insufficient.
What it helps with
- find public Reddit posts about a user problem
- collect comments from selected discussion threads
- compare product opinions across Reddit
- review activity from a named public profile
- gather subreddit posts within a bounded scope
Example prompts for the agent
- Research public Reddit posts about payment problems in SaaS and save the result to
./result.json. - Inspect the comments on this Reddit URL and extract the main product arguments.
- Review a named public Reddit profile, separating its posts from its comments.
