commercial-ad — Claude Code skill: product ads and shot scripts
Designs or audits a product commercial around one visual mechanism, then returns a brief or a shot script with claim boundaries attached.
npx skills add PostPlusAI/postplus-skills --skill commercial-ad -a claude-codeWhat commercial-ad does
The skill starts from the product argument, not from pretty shots. You pick one of seven routes — proof test, CGI product world, reveal and suspense, satisfying restock, brand-film narrative, editorial try-on, surreal escalation — and it reads only that route's reference file. Everything after that follows the chosen mechanism: framing, motion, edit rhythm, sound.
Output comes in two shapes. Ask for ideas and you get a Commercial Direction with fields like core_payoff, visual_mechanism and sound_design, plus a four-beat outline. Ask for a script and you get a shot table with columns for time, framing, camera motion, action, product relationship, lighting, sound, speech and purpose, followed by Continuity Locks, Proof Status, Claim Boundaries and Generator Risks.
It stops at one approval question before handing off to $image-batch-runner or $video-batch-runner. The hard limit: it will not invent durability, ingredient, health, price or guarantee claims, so a brief that leans on numbers you don't have will stall there. Named filmmakers, studios and living creators are off-limits too — references get translated into generic mechanism, object behavior and palette logic.
What it helps with
- pick one visual mechanism for a product commercial
- build a shot script with camera, sound and per-shot purpose
- audit an existing video for causal build and payoff
- separate literal proof from metaphor on screen
- draft a brief before production starts
Example prompts for the agent
- Draft a commercial direction for our product, brief plus four beats
- Turn that direction into a shot script with sound and purpose columns
- Review this video: where is the mechanism, where is the proof, what needs fixing
