openhue — Claude Code skill: control Philips Hue lights
This skill lets your agent drive Philips Hue lights and scenes through the OpenHue CLI. Handy when you want the lights off or movie mode on without leaving the chat.
npx skills add openclaw/openclaw --skill openhue -a claude-codeWhat openhue does
The skill documents openhue, a command-line tool for the Hue Bridge. Commands cover listing lights, rooms and scenes, turning things on and off, brightness from 0 to 100, color temperature from 153 to 500 mirek, and color by name or hex.
You can target a single light or a whole room. Scenes are called by name with a room attached: openhue set scene "Relax" --room "Bedroom". The file also ships quick presets, like dim warm light for bedtime or bright cool light for work.
You need openhue installed first, via brew: brew install openhue/cli/openhue-cli. The bridge has to sit on the same local network, and the first run asks you to press the button on the bridge to pair. Color only works on bulbs that support it. Skip this skill for other brands, HomeKit scenes, TVs or thermostats — it won't touch them.
What it helps with
- turn off every light in a room with one command
- set brightness and a warm tone before bed
- activate a Relax or Concentrate scene in a given room
- list all lights and rooms on the bridge
- set a bulb color from a hex code
Example prompts for the agent
- Turn off the bedroom lights
- Set the office to brightness 100 and temperature 250
- Activate the Relax scene in the living room
