toggl-time-tracker — Claude Code plugin: Toggl time tracking
Runs Toggl Track timers, logs hours and builds a weekly summary from inside a Claude chat. Useful when opening the Toggl tab feels like too much work.
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-community
/plugin install toggl-time-tracker@claude-communityWhat toggl-time-tracker does
The plugin hands the agent a set of Toggl Track actions backed by the service's API. Start a timer with a sentence, stop whatever is running and get the elapsed time back. Past work goes in as a finished entry pinned to yesterday.
Weekly reports come grouped by project, and the agent can pull the list of projects on request too. Setup is a one-time file: ~/.toggl-config.json with apiToken and workspaceId. Grab the token from your Toggl profile page and the workspace ID from the URL of the timer view. The file stays local; only API calls leave your machine.
A free Toggl Track account is enough. Inside Claude the plugin reads the config and calls the API by itself, while Cowork needs Desktop Commander in the mix. A wrong apiToken or workspaceId means nothing gets logged, so check that file first when a command quietly fails.
What it helps with
- start a timer for a meeting without leaving the editor
- stop the running timer and see how long it ran
- log two hours of code review for yesterday after the fact
- pull a weekly breakdown of hours per project
- list active Toggl projects before picking one
Example prompts for the agent
- Start a timer for the client meeting
- Stop the timer and tell me the duration
- Log 2 hours on code review for yesterday

# Toggl Time Tracker Plugin
Track time and pull reports from Toggl Track, right from Claude. Start timers, stop timers, log hours, and get weekly summaries — all by just asking.
## What you can do
- "Start a timer for client meeting" — starts a running timer in Toggl
- "Stop the timer" — stops whatever's running and shows the duration
- "What am I tracking?" — shows the current running timer
- "Log 2 hours for code review yesterday" — creates a completed time entry
- "Show my time this week" — pulls a weekly summary grouped by project
- "List my projects" — shows active Toggl projects
## Setup (one-time)
1. Get your API token from https://track.toggl.com/profile (scroll to "API Token")
2. Find your workspace ID in the Toggl URL: `https://track.toggl.com/{workspaceId}/timer`
3. Save your config:
```json
// ~/.toggl-config.json
{
"apiToken": "your-toggl-api-token-here",
"workspaceId": 1234567
}
```
That's it. Your API token stays on your machine and is never shared.
