The plugin connects Claude to the Kotlin language server. While you edit, the agent gets diagnostics, go-to-definition, find-references and type information for .kt and .kts files. No build step is involved.
It speaks LSP and starts on its own when files change. There are no credentials, no network calls and no file writes — the plugin only reads and analyses code.
Install the server first: brew install kotlin-language-server, sdk install kls through SDKMAN, or a build from the GitHub releases. Confirm it with kotlin-language-server --version. Skip that step and the plugin has nothing to talk to.
