What TickerDB does

TickerDB is an MCP server serving pre-computed market data. The agent reads categorical states such as trend_direction, support_level and analyst_consensus rather than crunching indicators from price bars. Coverage spans US stocks, ETFs and crypto pairs, with 182 fields and 7 years of history.

Nine tools ship with it. get_summary returns a technical and fundamental snapshot for one ticker, get_ohlcv serves daily or weekly end-of-day candles, get_search screens assets by state or ranks them by market_cap and pe_ratio, and get_schema lists every field with its valid bands. Watchlist work has its own set: get_watchlist, get_watchlist_changes, add_to_watchlist, remove_from_watchlist. Every tool is open on all tiers; tiers differ in credit limits, history depth, filter count and watchlist size.

Two transports exist. The hosted endpoint https://mcp.tickerdb.com/mcp speaks Streamable HTTP with OAuth 2.1 or a Bearer token. The npm package tickerdb-mcp runs locally through npx and reads its key from TICKERDB_KEY. Only initialize and tools/list work unauthenticated — a tools/call comes back as 401. Access control and rate limiting live in the TickerDB API, so the server itself stays a thin proxy.

What it helps with

  • see what a stock usually did after RSI entered oversold
  • screen large caps sitting near support while oversold
  • review which watchlist states shifted week over week
  • pull daily candles for a backtest or chart
  • discover which fields and band values the API exposes

Example prompts for the agent

  • Show me oversold large-cap stocks near support
  • What usually happens when AAPL goes oversold?
  • What changed on my watchlist this week?
