mcp · elfa-ai — Elfa MCP server for Claude Code: crypto intel and Auto
An MCP server for the Elfa API: crypto and equity events, positions and rankings, social data from X and Telegram, plus the Auto condition engine. Useful when your agent needs market facts.
claude mcp add mcp -e ELFA_API_KEY=<ELFA_API_KEY> -- npx -y @elfa-ai/mcpWhat mcp does
The server exposes 16 tools mapped to the documented /v2 and /v3 operations. events, market and calls cover what is moving, where attention sits and which positions accounts are taking. mentions, trending and narratives pull social data from X and Telegram. Auto is the other half: auto_build turns a plain-language monitoring request into an EQL query, auto_validate checks the syntax and estimates cost, and auto_query_write activates it so it fires on its own once your conditions hold.
Two ways to run it. Hosted: add https://mcp.elfa.ai/mcp as a remote MCP server and approve the sign-in in your browser with a dev.elfa.ai account, no key to copy. Local: grab an API key from dev.elfa.ai and let npx fetch the package on demand. In Claude the command is claude mcp add elfa --env ELFA_API_KEY=your-key -- npx -y @elfa-ai/mcp.
Default timeout is 120000 ms and retries are off. That is deliberate. The interpretation endpoints are LLM-backed, can run past a minute, and bill credits per attempt, so a silent retry would charge you twice for a call you never saw. Only raise ELFA_RETRIES when you are hitting the cheap measurement endpoints. Note that some MCP clients impose their own timeout near 60 seconds; narratives and market_chat can run past it, and the request still finishes and still costs you even if the client gave up first.
What it helps with
- see what is gaining attention in crypto right now
- check which positions X accounts are opening
- pull market narratives with source links
- set up market monitoring from a plain-language condition
- check credit usage and how far back history goes
Example prompts for the agent
- What's trending in crypto right now?
- Show me open longs and shorts on this asset
- Summarize market narratives from the last few days

Questions about mcp
How do I install mcp in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add elfa --env ELFA_API_KEY=your-key -- npx -y @elfa-ai/mcp. Get the key at dev.elfa.ai.
What does mcp do?
It gives your agent access to the Elfa API: events, positions, account rankings, social data from X and Telegram, and the Auto condition engine. 16 tools in total.
Why are retries disabled by default?
The interpretation endpoints are LLM-backed and cost credits per attempt. An automatic retry would bill you for a call you never saw.
