What mftool-mcp does

The server connects your agent to Indian mutual fund data. It returns the live NAV for an AMFI scheme code, the full NAV history or a slice between two dates (DD-MM-YYYY), and it searches schemes by name, AMC or category. Summary tools cover quarterly average AUM per AMC and daily 1Y/3Y/5Y performance for equity, debt and index funds.

SIP calculations return absolute return and annualised IRR. You can also price the units held in one scheme or in a multi-scheme portfolio, and bulk quotes and portfolio valuation run concurrently. Three cache tools let you check stats, wipe the cache or switch it off.

Start it with uvx mftool-mcp or pip install mftool-mcp; Python 3.10+ is required. Everything comes through the mftool library and is only as accurate as the published figures, so treat it as a reference, not financial advice.

What it helps with

  • look up the current NAV of a scheme by AMFI code
  • find a scheme code from a name or AMC
  • pull NAV history for a chosen date range
  • calculate SIP returns and annualised IRR
  • value a portfolio spread across several schemes

Example prompts for the agent

  • Use mftool-mcp to find SBI midcap schemes and list their codes
  • Ask mftool-mcp for the current NAV of scheme 125497
  • Compare five-year returns of equity funds with mftool-mcp

It exposes Indian mutual fund data to your agent as tools: NAV quotes, history, scheme search, performance and AUM summaries, SIP calculation and portfolio valuation.

What is the difference between get_scheme_details and get_scheme_info?

get_scheme_details takes an AMFI code and returns fund house, type, category and start date. get_scheme_info takes a BSE/YFinance code and returns richer data such as AUM, returns and ratings.
