Octoparse MCP Server — Claude Code MCP server: scrape and export
Wires an AI client into Octoparse so it can find scraping templates, run cloud tasks and pull results out as CSV, JSON or Excel.
claude mcp add --transport http octoparse-mcp https://mcp.octoparse.comWhat Octoparse MCP Server does
Six tools ship with the server. search_templates looks templates up by keyword, template ID or slug. execute_task checks the parameters, builds a cloud task from an Octoparse preset and kicks off extraction. export_data returns whatever a task has collected, in JSON, CSV, Excel, HTML or XML. The rest are search_tasks, start_or_stop_task and redeem_coupon_code.
The usual path is search_templates → execute_task → export_data. Working with something already created, you go search_tasks → export_data. Recurring runs and notifications are not the server's job — your MCP client or another automation layer handles those.
Everything points at the hosted endpoint https://mcp.octoparse.com. Auth is OAuth by default, or an API key sent in the x-api-key header for clients that can set custom headers. Keep that key out of git, logs and screenshots. Local desktop tasks will not run through the hosted server, and cloud execution depends on your account permissions, remaining credits and whether the target site is reachable. A long job may come back empty on the first call, so export_data gets called again later.
What it helps with
- find a scraping template by keyword
- spin up a cloud task from an Octoparse preset
- export collected rows to CSV or Excel
- check on a running task and stop it
- redeem a coupon or resource code
Example prompts for the agent
- Find a cloud-capable Octoparse template for product listings and run it for wireless earbuds
- Export the last task result as CSV
- Search my Octoparse tasks and show which ones already have data

Questions about Octoparse MCP Server
How do I install Octoparse MCP Server in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http octoparse-mcp https://mcp.octoparse.com, then finish the browser authorization if your client asks for it. The API key variant is claude mcp add --transport http octoparse-mcp-server https://mcp.octoparse.com.
What does Octoparse MCP Server do?
It links an MCP-compatible client to Octoparse: template search, creating and running cloud tasks, managing tasks you already have, and exporting the data.
What can't Octoparse MCP Server do?
It won't run local desktop tasks, won't build fully custom scraping tasks, and won't edit task configuration such as custom fields, pagination rules or loop logic. Private templates can't be uploaded either.
