mcp-server · fhirfly-io — Claude Code MCP server for healthcare data
Connect an agent to FHIRfly reference data for drugs, clinical codes, and healthcare providers. Useful for looking up identifiers such as NDC, NPI, and ICD-10.
claude mcp add mcp-server -e FHIRFLY_API_KEY=<FHIRFLY_API_KEY> -- npx -y @fhirfly-io/mcp-serverWhat mcp-server does
mcp-server gives an agent access to healthcare reference data through the FHIRfly API. Its tools can search medicines and drug interactions, provider records, lab and diagnosis codes, claims information, and FHIR endpoints. Other tools handle UCUM unit lookups and conversions between compatible units.
The server needs Node.js 18+ and a FHIRfly API key supplied as FHIRFLY_API_KEY. In Claude Code, add it with claude mcp add; the package runs through npx -y @fhirfly-io/mcp-server. Requests for reference data require a working API key.
What it helps with
- look up a medicine by NDC or name
- check interactions between several drugs
- find a provider by NPI
- search for a diagnosis or lab code
- convert compatible UCUM units
Example prompts for the agent
- Look up the medicine identified by NDC 0069-0151-01.
- Check whether aspirin interacts with warfarin.
- Convert 100 mg to grams using UCUM.
