What flipzi-mcp does

It runs on your own machine over stdio, started with npx. Nothing is hosted; the only outbound traffic is your own calls to data.flipzi.io. Under the hood it is a thin wrapper around the Flipzi Data API, and the tool list follows that API's contract.

Available tools: search cards by name, read the current price with market and confidence, daily history, eBay sold comps, top gainers and losers for a game, and a sealed booster-box value set against an estimate of the cards inside. Some tools sit behind a plan: history starts at Basic, sold comps and box value at Pro, movers and Cardmarket asking prices at Ultra. All of them always show up in the list. Ask for one your plan lacks and the server names the plan that has it, links the upgrade, and charges nothing for the refusal.

Two things to sort out first: a Flipzi key (fz_live_...) and Node.js 18+. The key goes into FLIPZI_API_KEY in your client config; leave it out and the server fails with a missing-key error. A per-run budget set by FLIPZI_MCP_MAX_UNITS (150 units by default) keeps an agent loop from eating your whole month, and 0 removes the cap.

What it helps with

  • check what a card sells for before buying it
  • see what buyers actually paid on eBay
  • pull a daily price history for a card
  • find the biggest gainers and losers in a game
  • compare a sealed booster box price with the cards inside

Example prompts for the agent

  • What is an Umbreon VMAX going for right now?
  • Show the price history for this card over the last 30 days.
  • Which Pokémon cards moved the most this week?

Questions about flipzi-mcp

How do I install flipzi-mcp in Claude Code?

Run claude mcp add flipzi-mcp -e FLIPZI_API_KEY=<FLIPZI_API_KEY> -- npx -y @flipzitcg/mcp with your own key in place of the placeholder. Check it with claude mcp list or /mcp.

What does flipzi-mcp do?

It exposes Flipzi Data API tools to your agent: card search, current prices, history, sold comps, movers and box values. Everything runs locally over stdio.

Do I need a paid Flipzi key?

No. A free key is created after you register and verify your email. Tools like history, sold comps and movers still require a paid plan.
