docket — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Local task tracker shared across Claude Code, Codex, and other agents. Groups items by git repository and provides a local browser dashboard.
claude mcp add docket -- npx -y @pasichdev/docketWhat docket does
The server acts as a shared backlog that any supported coding agent writes to mid-prompt. Each task assigns itself to a workspace by reading the current git remote. Items created outside a versioned folder drop straight into an Unfiled bucket.
When an agent connects, Docket launches a local browser view at http://localhost:8787 with workspace counters and task history. Cards accept an optional sourceUrl linking directly to an external pull request or issue tracker.
Node.js 18+ is required on the machine. Upgrading to release 3.0 converts the data file to format v8. Rolling back to 2.3.1 without running docket restore --from-v7 will silently discard the newer fields during subsequent writes.
What it helps with
- capture quick notes before creating formal tickets
- share one backlog across different coding agents
- isolate pending tasks by repository git remote
- inspect and update items via a local browser view
Example prompts for the agent
- Add a todo item to update API endpoint validations
- List all pending tasks for this workspace
- Mark task 2 as completed and attach the PR link
