Allowance MCP — Claude Code MCP server for approved purchases

What Allowance MCP does

An agent can submit a purchase request for a person to approve or reject on their phone. Once approved, the agent gets limited payment credentials to finish checkout, or can wait for Allowance to fulfill it remotely. It then reports whether the purchase succeeded or failed.

The server records requests, decisions, payment attempts, and receipts. It uses OAuth: connect an MCP client to the hosted server and complete the sign-in flow. Tool calls require the issued token, so a client without completed OAuth cannot use the server. Keep tokens and payment details out of your repository.

What it helps with

  • request human approval for a specific purchase
  • set spending limits by merchant, amount, and expiration
  • give an agent limited payment credentials after approval
  • record purchase attempts and receipt details
  • pause or revoke an agent’s spending allowance

Example prompts for the agent

  • Request approval for this purchase from the named merchant, with the stated spending cap.
  • Check the payment request and wait for the person’s decision.
  • Report the purchase result and receipt details to Allowance.
