user-story-mapping — Claude Code skill: user journey maps
This skill turns a user journey into activities, steps, and tasks, then helps group work into releases. Use it to plan a workflow, backlog, or MVP.
npx skills add deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills --skill user-story-mapping -a claude-codeWhat user-story-mapping does
The skill starts with the user’s goal and maps the activities, steps, and tasks needed along the way. It orders activities as a journey and sorts tasks by priority and release, making it easier to decide what belongs in an MVP and what can wait.
You define a user segment and persona, state the goal, then describe what the user does. The structure is provided in template.md. The resulting map can expose missing parts of a workflow and help set release scope. It is not a backlog or a substitute for user stories; it helps clarify what those stories should cover.
What it helps with
- map a user journey as ordered activities
- break activities into steps and tasks
- choose tasks for an MVP and later releases
- spot missing parts of a workflow
Example prompts for the agent
- Map the user journey for placing an order, from choosing a product to receiving it.
- Break this product workflow into activities, steps, and tasks, then outline an MVP release.
- Help define the user segment, persona, and goal for a map of this workflow.
