lean-ux-canvas — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Facilitates Jeff Gothelf's Lean UX Canvas v2 to clarify business problems, surface assumptions, and design cheap experiments before coding.
npx skills add deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills --skill lean-ux-canvas -a claude-codeWhat lean-ux-canvas does
This interactive assistant steers product discovery through the eight sections of the Lean UX Canvas v2. Instead of jumping straight into backlog implementation, it prompts you to pinpoint the underlying commercial friction and measurable behavior shifts. Sessions take 30 to 45 minutes.
The skill moves sequentially across target personas, user benefits, proposed solutions, and testable assumptions formatted as conditional statements. It then isolates the single most fragile bet and guides you toward the smallest testable trial.
You can supply an initial problem statement directly upon launch or answer questions step by step. If a feature is already thoroughly validated with actual telemetry, running this canvas is pure overhead.
What it helps with
- reframe requested features into root business problems
- uncover unverified assumptions before writing code
- construct testable hypotheses using structured conditions
- design minimal experiments to validate early user demand
Example prompts for the agent
- Run lean-ux-canvas: management wants an AI chatbot because support ticket volume is tripling
- Guide our team through a Lean UX Canvas session for new user drop-off
- Help me structure assumptions for an unvalidated B2B feature idea
