feature-investment-advisor — Claude Code skill: score a feature's ROI
A product skill that weighs a feature's revenue link, costs and strategic value, then returns a build-or-skip verdict with the math behind it.
npx skills add deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills --skill feature-investment-advisor -a claude-codeWhat feature-investment-advisor does
This skill structures the financial case for a feature. It starts by pinning down the revenue link: a new paid tier, retention, trial conversion, an upsell path, or no money angle at all. From there it sizes the cost side — build effort, COGS, ongoing OpEx — and works out ROI on gross margin rather than raw revenue.
The interaction is a short interview, no more than four adaptive questions, each with a few numbered answers to pick from. If the invocation already carries the feature and business numbers, the skill reuses them instead of asking again. You end up with a recommendation and the arithmetic that supports it. For features that are pure table stakes, or under a week of work, it says outright that the framework is not worth the time.
Behaviour follows the workshop-facilitation protocol from the same repository, which covers question pacing, progress labels and stopping on request. The numbers only mean something if you feed in current MRR or ARR, ARPU, churn and margin, even as rough estimates.
What it helps with
- decide whether SSO is worth building to unblock enterprise deals
- estimate ROI on a feature including build and running costs
- compare direct monetization with the value of lower churn
- back a prioritization call to leadership with numbers
- pressure-test a roadmap request on financial grounds
Example prompts for the agent
- Should we build SSO/SAML? Enterprise deals stall on it, roughly two engineer-months plus support.
- Evaluate the AI assistant feature: what revenue it brings and at what churn it pays off.
- Work out the ROI for this roadmap item and tell me whether to build it.
