interview-prep-generator — Claude Code skill: get ready for interviews
Turns your resume into STAR stories, likely questions and talking points for a specific role. Handy before a job interview.
npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill career/interview-prep-generatorWhat interview-prep-generator does
The skill reads a job description together with your resume and returns a set of STAR stories, a list of probable questions and talking points for each past role. It runs in three phases: role analysis, story banking, then mock practice.
Inside is a STAR structure with timing for each version: a two-minute full answer, a sixty-second short one and a fifteen-second one-liner. Questions are grouped by theme — leadership, problem-solving, collaboration, achievements, failure and growth. For every group the skill points out which stories your bank is still missing.
One useful part is expanding a single resume bullet into a full narrative. A line like “led a product launch” gets broken into situation, task, actions and result. Stories built without real numbers from your own experience come out hollow, so gather the facts first.
What it helps with
- turn resume bullets into STAR stories
- predict questions for a specific job posting
- draft talking points for each past role
- rehearse answers at three different lengths
- spot gaps in your story bank by competency
Example prompts for the agent
- Prep me for a product manager interview, here is my resume and the job description
- Build STAR stories from these resume bullets
- What behavioral questions will I get and how should I answer them?
