gws-chat-send — Claude skill: send messages to Google Chat
A skill that posts a plain-text message to a Google Chat space from the command line. Useful when your agent needs to notify a team.
npx skills add googleworkspace/cli --skill gws-chat-send -a claude-codeWhat gws-chat-send does
The skill wires up gws chat +send with two required flags: --space and --text. The first takes a space name like spaces/AAAA..., the second takes the message body as plain text.
What's inside is the command reference plus a pointer to gws-shared for auth and global flags. You need the gws binary installed and authenticated before this works. Space names are easiest to find with gws chat spaces list.
It's a write command, so the skill tells you to confirm with the user before running it. Cards and threaded replies aren't covered — those go through the raw API. Worth installing if you push notifications into Google Chat from an agent; skip it if you need to read conversations or send anything richer than text.
What it helps with
- post a message to a Google Chat space from the terminal
- notify a team that a build finished
- hand text to an agent for delivery into chat
- look up a space name before sending
- fire off a short update without opening a browser
Example prompts for the agent
- Send 'Hello team!' to spaces/AAAAxxxx
- Post a note to Google Chat that the deploy went through
- List the spaces, then send a message to the right one
