What gws-workflow-file-announce does

This command ties Google Drive and Google Chat into one step. It takes a Drive file identifier through --file-id and a Chat room identifier via --space. The tool pulls the file name from Drive to form the post. You can append extra context with --message and set output formats to json, table, yaml, or csv.

Under the hood, the workflow calls the Google Workspace CLI (gws). The prompt inspects schema options and verifies login state with gws auth status. Global flags and credentials rely on ../gws-shared/SKILL.md.

Without an authenticated gws session, this write operation will fail immediately.

What it helps with

  • post Google Drive file links into Google Chat rooms
  • notify teammates about uploaded documents with custom notes
  • trigger Google Workspace file announcements directly from the agent

Example prompts for the agent

  • Announce file 1A2b3C in space spaces/TEAM_CHAT using gws-workflow-file-announce
  • Post document doc_987 to spaces/DEV_ALERT with the message 'Review release notes'
